Our Mission

To serve as the flagship research institute for pediatric cardiology and congenital heart defects in Pakistan. PCHFRD brings thoughtfulness and empathy to children with CHD through evidence-based improvement in health and quality of life. We strive to discover and incorporate novel interventions, to facilitate partnerships between CHD researchers globally, and to address the burden of CHDs in Pakistan more efficiently through scientific understanding. Our mission is centered on improving and implementing quality standards for CHD research and treatment in Pakistan. We aim to perpetuate the understanding of epidemiological, public health and clinical aspects of CHDs between the CHD healthcare community and the public. PCHFRD also focuses on acquisition and management of grants for research.

Our goals are sustainability to the provision of standard and innovative CHD treatment in Pakistan. To foster the attraction and retention of resources in Pakistan’s scarce healthcare setting. Ultimately, strengthening the CHD community and health system in Pakistan.

Focus Areas

  • Epidemiology of CHD in Pakistan.
  • Data verification and analysis of existing CHD database in Pakistan.
  • International Quality Improvement Collaborative (IQIC) for Congenital Heart Disease based surgical and catheterization data collection for PCHF. Application of outcomes for quality improvement in PCHF funded treatments.
  • PCHF patient reported outcome measures using International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) for CHD standard sets.
  • Research on the correlation between LMICs and CHDs.
  • Research on the correlation between maternal health and CHD.
  • Correlation between cousin marriages and CHD.
  • Rural and urban populations and CHDs.
  • Grant acquisition for research, clinical trials and CHHRI infrastructure.
